A tour of a sweet potato shochu factory, including a tasting
Kirishima Shuzo, established in 1916, has its headquarters in Miyakonojo, and is the top seller of shochu in Japan. Its wide range of products include a nationally-known shochu labeled Kurokirishima. If you would like to know how shochu is made, Kirishima Walk Factory is the perfect place to visit. The tour also includes tastings of the main ingredient, sweet potato “Kogane Sengan,” and the shochu itself. Exercise all your senses of sight, smell, taste, touch and hearing, while learning about the process of shochu-making.
